Karinderya Customers Who Leave Without Paying
The alert is real. A chase prompt is not confirmed. Cut wait time instead of hunting a missing button.
Sooner or later Karinderya flashes A customer ran away without paying! The NPC is gone, the pesos never land, and your lunch math collapses. Creators have joked about it on stream; SILOG has not shipped a documented “tackle the thief” control. This guide treats runaways as a service-speed and stock problem, not a combat minigame. Use it with getting started if you are still learning assignment, and with stock and shop if the pantry is the real culprit. The Guides Hub lists every related page.
A runaway is a broken loop. The intended circuit is place seats, assign, cook, serve, collect. Walk-offs happen when assign is late, the stove is backed up, the plate cannot finish because condiments ran out, or you are in the shop UI while a seated guest waits. Codes and Deluxe stoves help only because they shorten those waits.
What we know from play
Players see guests leave or steal after delay. The banner text is consistent. Clicking the fleeing model, pressing a random key, or chasing on foot has no confirmed payoff in public footage. If a future patch adds a detain prompt, it will show up in Discord patch chatter at the official invite. Until then, do not build a strategy around pouncing.
Assignment is the first defense. Waiting NPCs are not seated until you assign them. A cluster at the door is a runaway factory. In co-op, put one human on assign duty and do not let them browse Paints. Solo, assign before you restock unless the shop timer is about to hide a needed chair. Empty matching chairs matter: a table without seats cannot absorb a group, so overflow stands and then leaves.
Throughput is the second defense. Basic stoves demand more attention. Standard and Deluxe reduce babysitting; some clips show auto-cook. If three orders wait on one Basic cooker, you will see banners even with perfect assignment. Spend 1MVISITS / shop cash on cookers when the uncooked queue is the long one. Layout matters: long walks from stove to table add the same delay as a slow cooker.
Stock is the third defense. Streams hit “low on condiments” and then lose guests because the plate cannot complete. That is not rudeness; it is a hard gate. Watch ingredient warnings the way you watch the runaway banner. Restock on the timer. Do not open a fourth table during a condiment drought.
Habits that actually cut walk-offs
Keep a visible empty-seat count. If every chair is full and more NPCs spawn, you need furniture, not a chase. Buy Tables and Chairs together from the shop. Code furniture (Parsons pieces from some 1MVISITS write-ups) should be placed before the next wave, not left in inventory.
Keep one stove “ahead.” Start the next cook as soon as a plate leaves. Auto-cook is not permission to AFK in the Materials tab. Collect pay on the way back so cash is available when the restock timer flips.
Never open the ticket UI during a rush except on a dead server. Redeem BAKARENEPAIRYAN and 1MVISITS after tutorial, on the how to redeem path, then close the ticket. The Codes Hub is for between rushes.
If you play six-deep co-op, call runaways out loud. The assign player cannot also be the restock player when banners start stacking. Rotate after the wave. Visiting another karinderya to “fight” thieves does nothing useful; there is no confirmed PvP detain. Learn their chair density, then copy it. Co-op covers job split without turning the sim into a cop game.
Community talk about workers near Grocery (~₱300, ~three days) is a possible extra pair of hands, not a bounty hunter. Phrase it as observed. If a hire appears and they serve or assign, they are anti-runaway in the same way a friend is. If they only idle, you wasted pesos you needed for condiments.
When runaways are a symptom of the wrong upgrade
Banners after adding tables: you grew capacity past throughput. Buy stove tier or a second cooker. See progression.
Banners after a Deluxe install: you cook faster than you seat or stock. Buy chairs or ingredients.
Banners while the shop shows empty chair slots: you are waiting on restock. Do not fill the gap with Paints. Wait or play on fewer tables until the timer returns chairs.
Banners during tutorial: finish the scripted servings, then redeem, then apply the habits above. The tutorial is allowed to feel clumsy; the live rush is not.
Stars and runaways are linked only by common sense. How to get 5 stars cannot quote a formula, but unpaid leaves are the opposite of a successful restaurant. Cutting banners is the rating play you can actually execute.
Live with the banner as a coach. Each popup is a timestamp: you were in the wrong UI, on the wrong upgrade, or late to assign. Fix that cause. Do not hunt a chase button SILOG has not confirmed. Come back to this page after a patch only if Discord says detain shipped; until then, Karinderya runaways die to furniture, heat, and stock — the same three words as the rest of the wiki.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Karinderya players.
Is there a button to chase runaway customers?
Not in confirmed public builds. The alert appears, but no reliable detain control has been documented. Reduce wait time instead.
What does the runaway message say?
Players report the line A customer ran away without paying! Treat that banner as a failed paid order.
Do better chairs stop stealing?
Better matching tables and chairs raise capacity so fewer NPCs wait at the door. They do not add a security minigame.
Can co-op partners catch thieves?
There is no confirmed catch mechanic. Partners help by assigning, cooking, serving, and restocking faster than a solo owner.
Does empty condiment stock cause runaways?
Empty ingredients can stall plates, which increases wait and walk-offs. Restock before you expand seating.
